From the book “Notes of a Siege Man. Memoirs” Lydia Ginzburg occupies a special place in the history of Russian culture. A brilliant literary scholar, critic, publicist, student of Tynyanov and Eikhenbaum, she represents a person of the era, whose scientific and literary words sounded fresh and innovative and determined the state of minds in society for many years. Her area of interest was Russian literature of the 19th and early 20th centuries, her books “On Psychological Prose”, “On Lyrics”, “On the Old and the New”, “Literature in the Search for Reality” received wide popularity. Among the most interesting discoveries of L. Ginzburg is the theory of intermediate genres, to which the researcher paid tribute as a scientist and as an author.
