This is a continuation of the series about the life of the rulers of Russia. The book presents the results of a deep and comprehensive study of the existence and activities of charitable institutions that were under the patronage of members of the Imperial family in the period of the 19th - early 20th centuries. Charitable departments, committees, societies and the trustee institutions that were part of them provided broad support to various categories of those in need and provided social assistance that was quite advanced for those times. The story about this is not only of “academic” interest, because for modern Russia, the problem of attracting social forces and means to solve social problems remains extremely relevant. Much of the experience of the work of departments and committees under the auspices of the House of Romanov can be in demand in our time.
