The publication of selected works by M.O. Gershenzon is being undertaken for the first time. Mikhail Osipovich Gershenzon (1869-1925) - historian of Russian literature and social thought of the 19th century, writer, philosopher, publicist, translator, tireless collector of the epistolary heritage of many figures of Russian culture, editor and publisher. Volume 3 includes the books `Images of the Past`, `Historical Notes`, `The Dream and Thought of I.S. Turgenev`. “Images of the Past” opens with a series of articles about Pushkin, then the reader is presented with a whole gallery of writers, public figures, thinkers, poets and musicians who left an indelible mark on Russian identity. The book about I.S. Turgenev leads from the reconstruction of the early stages of his work and worldview to one of his most insightful and wise stories, “Living Relics”. The article “Slavophilism” corresponds well with “Historical Notes” - a book, many of whose hard-won thoughts are striking in their topicality even now. Like previous volumes, the publication is equipped with an article by V.Yu. Proskurina on the place of Gershenzon in the history of Russian culture, comments and an index of names.
