Mikhail Osipovich Gershenzon (1869–1925) is a historian of Russian literature and social thought of the 19th century, writer, philosopher, publicist, translator, tireless collector of the epistolary heritage of many figures of Russian culture, editor and publisher. The volume included mainly philosophical works by M. O. Gershenzon (“The Crisis of Modern Culture”, “The Triple Image of Perfection.” “The Key of Faith”, etc.), in which he tried to formulate the results of his thoughts about the fate of the world and culture, as they were pictured to a contemporary of the tragic events of the first quarter of the bygone 20th century. The volume also publishes extensive correspondence with his brother (“Letters to his brother”). Most of the publications collected in the volume have long become bibliographic rarities. The volume reproduces a complete bibliography of the works of M. O. Gershenzon, published in 1928, supplemented by an extensive list of subsequent publications by Gershenzon himself and works about him up to 1999.
