In “The Number and the Siren,” Meillassoux turns to the famous poem “The Throw of the Dice” by Stéphane Mallarmé and, in search of “a number incapable of becoming another,” attempts to decipher the poetic text. The code he received becomes the key to understanding the poetry and religion of our time.
