The book is one of the first comprehensive studies of the impact of media manipulation on the political consciousness of citizens through two channels of mass communication - television and the Internet. Without claiming to be a comprehensive analysis of the impact of media manipulation in any particular country or region, the author explores the general mechanism of media manipulation carried out using various tools. The work reveals practices, technologies and examples of media manipulation in the modern world. Modern technologies today serve not only as a tool for the transfer and exchange of information, they build new relationships between government and society, and are an integral part of political management. The author also considers means of protecting society from media manipulation. One of these means could be a developed system of public television and radio broadcasting, which creates conditions for healthy political competition between different political forces. The chronological framework of the work covers the period from the mid-20th century, when the mass distribution of television began, until the present day, when the growing influence of the Internet is observed as one of the fastest growing channels of information and communication. The book is addressed to political scientists, journalists and readers interested in the role of the media in the modern world.
