The book by the famous French writer San Antonio (real name Frederic Dar), author of numerous detective novels, tells the story of the investigation of two cases of suicide at the Saint-Cyr police school - on Golden Mountain, which is carried out by the San Antonio Police Commissioner and Chief Inspector Alexander -Benoit Berurier. For the purpose of secrecy, Berurier is enlisted in the staff of this school as a teacher of good manners and optionally gives a course of lectures, using the 1913 edition of the Encyclopedia of Secular Rules as a basic manual. He makes his own adjustments to this encyclopedia, which his simple and generous nature tells him, and supplements it with intimate details from his life. Reasonable and rude Berurier improves the rules of good manners, pushes back the boundaries of decency, discards conventions, in a word, helps modern man free himself from bourgeois prejudices and secular rules.
