End of the 2nd century BC. Mighty Rome, the conqueror of almost all the countries of the Mediterranean, magnificently celebrated the victorious end of the war with Jugurtha, king of Numidia. But the Romans' joy at this new victory was overshadowed by their heavy defeats in Gaul, where numerous and warlike Germanic tribes of the Cimbri and Teutones invaded. The “barbarians” once again defeated and destroyed the Roman legions.
