Adele Smith lived her entire life for the good of humanity. As a civil rights activist in the '60s and '70s, she spent much of her life demonstrating, giving speeches, and lending a helping hand to those in need.

But that very evening when she being awarded the Humanitarian Achievement Award, she suffers a stroke, which leaves her partially paralyzed and unable to speak. Now Adele is in the care of a ruthless hospice nurse who sees herself not as a heroine, but as the cause of her many problems, since she herself was born to an interracial couple. The nurse decides to give Adele her own “therapy”, consisting of torture and suffering, both physical and mental.
