Boris Chichibabin is a poet of a complex and rich poetic culture that has absorbed the best traditions of Russian poetry; philosophical, civil, love and landscape lyrics are organically intertwined in his works. His work, which reflected the tragic path of society, bears the imprint of inner freedom and moral search. Contemporaries called him “a poet of naked moral feeling, frantic spontaneous pressure, a rebel and a sad man, a truth-seeker and a shaker of foundations” (M. Bogoslavsky), a poet of “orchestral sound” (M. Kopeliovich), “a frantic righteous warrior” (Evg. Yevtushenko) . The collection “The Shining of the Snows” included the book “The Bell,” for which B. Chichibabin was awarded the USSR State Prize (1990). Also presented are selections of poems from different years from other publications, compiled by the widow of the poet L. S. Karas-Chichibabina.
