The book of translations included in this edition of the collection “Texts of Qumran” was prepared for publication in 1967 and given to the Main Editorial Office of Oriental Literature of the Nauka Publishing House. Currently, it has been published by the publishing house Center “Petersburg Oriental Studies” in accordance with the author’s latest wishes. The second issue of translations of the main works from the caves of Khirbet-Qumran included mainly the texts of documents that regulated the life of the community; some of them contain projects for the reconstruction of the entire Jewish society. For the most part, the published texts are larger in volume and better preserved than the interpretations of the books of the Bible published by I. D. Amusin in the first issue of “Texts of Qumran” (published in GRVL more than 30 years ago), and are relatively rarely interrupted by gaps. The text of each work an explanatory introduction is provided. After the text, a detailed commentary is given, intended to give the reader a detailed idea of the features of the monument; it notes unclear and corrupted places in the original, as well as contact with the text of the Bible and with the text of other Qumran sources.
