...There lived two Gabors - a big one and a small one. Big Gabor Lakatos was the father of little Gabor. Actually, this is what made him great. Ludwik Ashkenazy was born in Czechoslovakia, studied in Lviv, Poland, was taken to Kazakhstan by the Soviet authorities, fought in the Czechoslovak Corps, returned to his homeland, and then left for West Germany. His books were published in Russian in the 60s of the 20th century. And although they were released in small editions, children and adults in the Soviet Union managed to fall in love with them. And then Ashkenazi stopped publishing here because he became an enemy - he left the country of socialism to live in the West. It’s only now that you can travel and live wherever you want. It wasn't like that before. And so, many years later, they decided to reissue his books.
