Mikhail Mikhailovich Zoshchenko (1894–1958) is a classic of Russian literature, satirist, translator, playwright and screenwriter. In his satirical works he ridiculed cruelty, philistinism, pride, ignorance and other human vices. Based on his stories, director Leonid Gaidai made the comedy “It Can’t Be!” This publication presents the collection “Sentimental Stories,” the author’s best humorous stories, the collection “Blue Book,” as well as the entire corpus of stories for children. Almost a hundred years have passed, and we we still laugh when we read these stories. We often quote them, sometimes forgetting that the quote was written by Zoshchenko - his aphorisms and catchphrases have already become an integral part of our culture.
