This edition of “The Newest History of the Jewish People” is in the Russian original in a completely new form. This latest cycle of the “World History of the Jewish People” has long been separated into a separate monograph with a more detailed presentation of events than in previous cycles. At the beginning of 1914, a large volume entitled “The Newest History of the Jewish People from 1789 to 1881” appeared in St. Petersburg. The last date was the limit, since there was no hope in Tsarist Russia to freely publish the history of the Jews over the past decades. This became possible after the World War and revolution, already outside Russia. In 1923, the Russian original and two translations (German and Hebrew) of “Modern History” were published in Berlin in three volumes, of which the last volume included the era of 1881-1914. Soon the finally revised “World History of the Jewish People from the Ancients” began to appear in Berlin times to the present" in ten volumes. Of these, only the first two volumes (Ancient History) appeared in the Russian original, and the entire book was printed in an authorized German translation. The last three volumes of this edition, including modern history, were revised on the basis of additional material from the rich Berlin libraries, and an extensive epilogue was added to the end: a review of events from 1914 to 1929. Now, when a complete edition of the Russian original of the “World History of the Jewish people" in three cycles, the author subjected the last cycle to a new revision and supplemented it with a second epilogue, bringing the review of events to the present day. The second volume contains information about the era of the first reaction (1815-1848) and the second emancipation (1848-1880). The author details the deterioration of the situation of Jews after 1815, as well as the legal persecution of Jews in Russia under Alexander I and Nicholas I and the position of Jews in the Russian army. The emancipation of Jews in some countries in the 1860s and 70s gave way to a rise in political anti-Semitism and a wave of accusations of blood libel.
