The book is the next edition of the collection “Ancient Sources on the History of the Peoples of Eastern Europe”, the initiative to publish which belongs to corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences Vladimir Terentyevich Pashuto (1918-1983). This is the first part of a planned three-volume publication of information about the Icelandic royal sagas about the peoples of the Eastern Baltic states, Ancient Rus' and the Russian North. It includes fragments of the Ynglinga Saga, the Saga of Harald the Fairhair, the Saga of Hakon the Good, the Saga of Harald Grayskin and the Saga of Olav Tryggvason from all surviving editions of these sagas.
