Russian poetry of the late 20th century to this day remains a “blank spot” in the history of Russian literature. The overwhelming majority of poets whose creative career began in the eighties either remained in the shadow of the sixties or simply did not find their readers. The poems of Sergei Yuryev were highly appreciated by the famous literary critic Eduard Babaev and the poetess Yunna Moritz, but they did not gain widespread fame, since they were published only in samizdat collections, published in tiny editions. In the 80s of the last century, poems that dealt with topics that were taboo for their time did not have a chance of publication, and then a period of general fading of interest in poetry began.
