Russian sophiology of the late XIX – early XX centuries. - an original and remarkable phenomenon of world culture. Controversies continue around it, the severity of which testifies to the enduring relevance of the problems raised by Russian sophiologists, the most important of which are the ability of Christian civilization to respond to the challenges of the time, the need for the unity of humanity in the face of growing global crises, the renewal of faith, the search for a new rationality as a cultural value, reasonable grounds for dialogue between Western and Eastern Christianity, between Christianity and other world and national religions, between different cultures. This collection is compiled from reports presented at the international conference “Russian Sophiology in European Culture” (Zvenigorod, October 1–5, 2008), organized by the Biblical -Theological Institute of St. ap. Andrew and the Institute of Oriental Churches (Regensburg) with the support of the Catholic Committee for Cultural Cooperation (Rome, Italy).
