“Antirrhetics,” that is, “Words of Objection,” in which the teaching of Gregory Akindinus is refuted, is one of the most interesting polemical works of St. Gregory Palamas and his most voluminous work. In it we find a continuation of the polemic with which the reader of this series had the opportunity to become acquainted in the volume devoted to selected treatises of St. Gregory. It should be noted that the Antirrhetics against Akindinus, despite all its polemical sharpness, represent one of the most remarkable presentations of the Orthodox theology of deification in its connection with Christology and the doctrine of mental silence. No wonder Rev. Nicodemus Svyatorets is himself a great expert on the Palamite heritage, who prepared at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. the first ever Collection of works of St. Gregory, which unfortunately never saw the light of day, in his adaptation of the book “Spiritual Exercises” points to the Antirrhetics as the most profound and daring exposition of the mystery of the deification of human nature and one of the best interpretations of the words of the Apostle Paul that “God will be everything in everything." The book is intended for theologians, philosophers, historians and anyone interested in the fate of the Church.
