The book by the famous military historian I. B. Moshchansky is dedicated to the use of armored forces of the Red Army in the longest operation of the Great Patriotic War - the battle for Leningrad. From 1941 to 1944, the forces of the North-Western, Northern, Leningrad and Volkhov fronts, as well as several separate armies, did everything to preserve the city on the Neva for our country and human culture. The presented work describes little-known operations of the battle of Leningrad, as well as everyday life and the vital functions of headquarters, formations, and, often, ordinary tankers. Based on archival, historical and literary documents, the author describes tragic and comic incidents that so well characterize the national identity of our people. The most detailed analysis is devoted to the Sinyavinsk operation (August 19 - October 1, 1942), an unsuccessful attempt by the Volkhov and Leningrad fronts to break the siege of Leningrad.
