After the defeat and death of Paulus's 6th Army in Stalingrad, the German command made titanic efforts to regain the lost strategic initiative. At the beginning of 1943, additional troops were urgently transferred to the Eastern Front, including one of the best Waffen-SS formations - the 2nd SS Panzer-Grenadier Division "Das Reich" (2. SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Division "Das Reich"). Superbly trained and armed, with enormous combat experience, staffed by convinced Nazis fanatically loyal to the Fuhrer, this division achieved impressive successes on the Eastern Front, inflicting a number of sensitive blows on the Red Army, but was unable to turn the tide of hostilities. In this book, for the first time in domestic military literature, the participation of the SS division "Das Reich" in the battle for Kharkov in February - March 1943, which became the last major German victory on the Eastern Front, and in the last large-scale offensive of German troops - Operation Citadel, was studied in detail.
