Stuart Slade is practically unknown to the Russian-speaking reader. His books have never been published in translation, much less in the original, although they can be purchased electronically on Amazon or simply read online. I decided to correct this unfortunate situation to the best of my ability. Why is it annoying?

Firstly, Slade writes in the genre of hard scientific alternative history. All the characters' actions are logical, many characters and places of events coincide with the real story. Only a small fork has changed. No miscreants, magicians, elves, etc.

Secondly, he is a consistent anti-fascist and sympathizes with Russia.

Thirdly, he dearly loves aviation, just like me. In addition to fiction books, he is the author of several thematic monographs.

Fourth, the first book, the title of which I translated as “With all my might” (later in the footnote to one plot point there will be an explanation of why this is so), talks about places and people that are extremely poorly covered in Russian historiography of the mid-20th century.

Not It would be an exaggeration to say that our contemporaries know almost nothing about the events of World War II that took place outside Europe and Russia. What happened in China and Southeast Asia? What happened in Africa? Only rare specialists will answer these questions. But the Sino-Japanese War of this period had a significant impact on the further balance of power in the Far East. Due to the fact that Slade conducts the entire narrative from strict logical premises and consequences, the same people act in the same places in the novel, with rare exceptions. In progress While working on the translation, I discovered that at least half of the characters and events are not mentioned at all in the Russian-language segment of the Internet, except on highly specialized sites, and the description of various equipment is several times scarcer. That is why there are so many footnotes in the text - without them it is often impossible to understand what the connection is between events, characters and places of action. It is impossible to correct this situation alone. I hope this book will contribute at least a little to your interest in history. When preparing the file for layout, I took the liberty of redoing the rather crude author’s cover, which can be seen on Google Books. He brought it to the style of similar e-books that has developed in RuNet, preserving the original message with “Tomahawk” of exactly the modification that is present in the text. As time goes by work on Stuart Slade's books will continue.

This translation is an amateur one. I ask readers to take this into account. Despite three proofreadings, there were probably some small errors left in the text, although I tried to catch everything. There is also some "technicality" that I try to avoid in the work on the next book, Kazan Thunderbolts. Of course, the text can and should be improved, but please remember about “Boromir smiled” :).

Your Patyrinarga.
