We can say that the author and I have a common context of memory. The experience of living in a totalitarian state (and for the author this is Romania during the Ceausescu period), under dictatorship, the test of a person by fear, violence and alienation, is inescapable and leaves its mark on more than one generation. “The text should combine respect for reality and a passion for flicker “- this is how the writer defines her attitude to the story. And: “I don’t owe literature a word, I owe all the words to myself. To myself alone, because I want to express what surrounds me.”
