Love triangle of the era of “developed socialism”. The out-of-this-world young collective farmer Talka, masculine in appearance, secretly loves the foreman Nikolai. Nikolai survived an unsuccessful marriage while at the “shock construction site of communism.” Disappointed, he returned to his native village. During a fight between the foreman and drunken men, Talka saves Nikolai's life. But Nikolai, respecting Talka as a person and a worker, is unable to overcome physical disgust and love her as a woman.
