Edward Newson stands out among other Scotland Yard employees not only because of his bright red hair and gentle manners. He is 33 years old and already a senior inspector. But he has two problems: a series of absurd at first glance, but carefully planned murders, which he is investigating, and the beautiful Sergeant Natasha Wilkie, with whom he has long been hopelessly in love. In an attempt to distract himself, the inspector registers on a classmate search site and comes to the Alumni '86 meeting. But instead of sweet nostalgia to the music of the “new wave”, the party reveals many past boils - and turns out to be directly connected with both the investigation and Natasha.
This is not the first time that Briton Ben Elton brilliantly plays on the themes of “English eccentricities” and music “golden era” of British rock (he is one of the creators of “Mr. Bean”, and the musical based on his libretto, “We will rock you,” was also performed in Moscow). But never before have these two topics intersected in such an unexpected and dramatic way.
