Fate released A.V. Kolchak is less than half a century old, but in this short period of time there were so many turning points, tragedies and storms that would be enough for several lifetimes: great wars and great love, enormous power and state disaster. One of the last heroes of the Empire, awarded the Golden Arms of St. George for his bravery, he explored the polar ice and defended Port Arthur, mined the Gulf of Finland and commanded the Black Sea Fleet, planned a landing on Istanbul and was the Supreme Ruler of Russia - albeit for a very short time, only 13 months. Having failed in his mission as the savior of the country, betrayed by the allies, Kolchak was shot without trial on February 7, 1920. The Bolsheviks considered him “the worst enemy of Soviet power and “the embodiment of all the old untruths of Russian life” (Trotsky’s expression). And Ivan Bunin, speaking at the memorial service, remembered the Supreme Ruler with these words: “The time will come when His name will be inscribed in golden letters for eternal glory and memory in the Chronicle of the Russian Land...”
