Now nothing prevents them from renewing their relationship: she is a rich widow, he is an employee of the diplomatic corps, and has never been married. Having waited for the long-awaited vacation and going to visit Anna, George suddenly receives a telegram from her: “Unforeseen difficulties. Please don't come."
