Like many other events of the Great Patriotic War, the battles on the Kursk Bulge were actually classified by the Soviet side for decades. For half a century, only a limited circle of military specialists had access to the documents of the troops who participated in this crucial battle. It was only recently that these funds were finally opened. Valery Zamulin was one of the first to begin analyzing and systematizing them. Declassified documents from the Central Archive of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the trophy department of the US National Archives allow the author to describe in detail the climax of the Battle of Kursk - heavy fighting in the Oboyan direction and the famous counterattack of the Voronezh Front near Prokhorovka on July 12, 1943 , - restoring the course of events literally hourly and minute by hour, analyzing the actions of the parties and the main reasons for successes and failures. Fierce tank battles on the southern face of the Arc of Fire appear before the reader in a new light - as they were seen by the direct participants in the events: soldiers, officers and generals Voronezh Front and Army Group South.
