The action-packed narrative of the novel “Black” takes the reader from Paris during the Restoration period (20s) to the remote island of Tahiti in the Pacific Ocean, then to the French city Chartres. The hero of the novel and his devoted friend - the black dog Black - have extraordinary and exciting adventures. The author glorifies love, loyalty and devotion. In the short story “Erminia” Alexandre Dumas created a romantic image of a rebellious, proud and strong girl. In the story “The Corsican Brothers” the writer talks about a family of Corsican aristocrats, lovingly recreating the exotic rights and customs of Corsica, showing the indestructibility “vendetta” (blood feud) even in the conditions of civilized Paris.
