The story in the epistolary genre “Different Eyes” (1925) by the most talented and undeservedly forgotten Russian writer Yuri Lvovich Slezkin (1885-1947) has many meanings. This is an understanding of the problems of the new life of Russia, a new, liberated morality, and comprehension of one’s path, this is a search for truth, the meaning of new work. The strange relationship between two vacationers in Crimea—musician Nikolai Vasilyevich Tesminov and professor’s wife Maria Vasilievna Ugryumova—arouses intense interest among others. The difference in perception and understanding of these relationships, which we see in letters, also reveals a difference in characters, worldviews, attitudes, attitudes towards oneself and other people.
