The story of a girl born on one of the Caribbean islands, who tried to find shelter and peace of mind in her father’s homeland, in dank and foggy London, sounds very modern. The inner world of the heroine is conveyed with rare subtlety and accuracy, thanks to a special, restrained and tense intonation. The novel is being published in Russian for the first time.
