In his first book written in the pontiff's office, Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI) sums up many years of work, the center of which invariably turns out to be the main question - understanding the true meaning of Jesus Christ. The book, work on which began in 2003, is addressed not only to theologians and clergy, but to the entire Christian world. The author, a convinced opponent of populist interpretations and pseudo-historical reconstructions of the image of Christ, strives to reveal to readers “his” Jesus and, through parallels with modern times, to bring Him closer to us. “Jesus of Nazareth” represents the first part of the planned voluminous work and covers the period from the Baptism in the Jordan to the Transfiguration.
