The volume from the legacy of Franz Kafka contains the writer's notebooks, a recording of his speech, and letters. In addition to daily diary entries, the notebooks (“Notebooks in Octavo”) contain excerpts from planned stories, aphorisms, fantastic scenes, landscapes, etc. These notes provide an opportunity to once again look into the world created by the great Prague resident. In a series of short texts, the features of Kafka’s world appear no less expressively than in novels and short stories. The Appendix contains sketches for the novel “Richard and Samuel”, jointly with Max Brod, which remained unfinished, excerpts from the book by Felix Welch “Religion and Humor in Life and Work Franz Kafka,” Nathalie Sarraute’s essay “From Dostoevsky to Kafka” and an article by graphologist J. Monnot with an analysis of Kafka’s handwriting.
