“The Lieutenant of Inishmore” is an eccentric play with lots of blood and various kinds of curses. Padraic, a second lieutenant in the Irish Liberation Army, becomes disillusioned with his teammates and forms a splinter faction. He is fiercely patriotic, but extremely cruel in achieving his goals. In his homeland, where he left five years ago, he is called nothing less than “mad Padraic.” One day the lieutenant learns that his beloved cat, whom he left on the island, suddenly became ill. This is something that will not go well for the lieutenant’s father and the teenager Davey, who find themselves with the cat in his dying minute, when Padraic, having abandoned all his terrorist affairs, returns home. True, the lieutenant himself is in danger of problems: vengeful partners are waiting for him at home.
