This collection includes three stories by a modern Russian writer, publicist and scientist Andrei Desnitsky. Two of them - “Notes of a Screwtape” and “Letters to a Sleeping Brother” - continue in their own way “Letters of a Screwtape” by C. S. Lewis, with the difference that the action is transferred to modern Russia. The tempter demon and the one who helps the guardian angel look at our contemporary... The third story, “Russian Amsterdam,” on the contrary, is realistic - it tells about the life of a Russian guy, an illegal immigrant in Amsterdam in the early 1990s. This is not an autobiography, but the story describes many stories that the author learned about from their participants or to which he was an eyewitness.
