Sergei Kara-Murza collected his memories in this book, starting from the war years, in which some aspects of the Soviet life structure were seen through the eyes of a child, and then a young and adult person. Such a lyrical perception does not, of course, provide a complete picture, but it complements and enlivens the objective description of the main structures of Soviet civilization.
