The main goal and theme of our story is the history of the American aircraft carrier Enterprise, which took an active part in hostilities in the Pacific Ocean. And I am well aware that a reader who is not knowledgeable in maritime affairs will at first certainly have great difficulty in understanding what we are actually talking about. Therefore, I will try to describe the events of those turbulent years and the places where they unfolded, to the best of my ability, clearly, clearly and accurately - so that even the most inexperienced reader will feel, as they say, like a fish in water. However, let me make a reservation in advance: alas, it is not in my power to make everything easily accessible at once. It is no coincidence, for example, that a passenger who steps aboard a steamship for the first time feels completely confused, what can we say about an aircraft carrier: it is at the same time a warship, a factory, a city and an airfield - in a word, an unusual, even strange world.
