We are accustomed to associate the concept of military-spiritual, military-monastic and knightly orders, and the concepts of “knight” and “monk” as such, exclusively with Christian, Western religion, culture and ideology. Meanwhile, these ideas turn out to be just another myth. For example, the enormous potential for the revival of chivalry was clearly demonstrated during the Second World War in Japan, where the samurai code of honor “bushido” reached its culmination in a phenomenon that, in the eyes of the West, seems to be a manifestation of the wildest fanaticism - the kamikaze. Analogies can be drawn with the actions of modern Islamists, whose “martyrs for the faith” from the ranks of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hezbollah, Al-Qaeda and all kinds of “jamaats” and “fidayeen” draw strength from traditions that have their roots in the era of secret orders of the Muslim East.
