Osip Mandelstam (1891–1938) is one of the key figures of Russian culture of the 20th century, with a very special and original poetic voice. “In the craft of words, I value only wild meat, only crazy growth,” this is how Mandelstam defined the peculiarity of his prose with its aphoristic, laconic, dense linguistic fabric.
