If the classical habitus of a philosopher traditionally included restraint in demonstrating his own private sphere, then in the 20th century the attitude of philosophers and theorists in general to the relationship between public and private, to their private life, to the genre of autobiography became more meaningful and diverse. This book shows this diversity through the example of 25 prominent theorists of the 20th century and explores not so much the relationship of theory to the private existence of each of the authors, but its interaction with their ideas about autobiography. The book offers an interesting approach to the intellectual history of the 20th century, which will be useful for specialists, students, and simply curious readers.
