In “Temple at Dawn,” Honda, the hero of the tetralogy, is no longer young, he has lost the ardor of feelings with which he empathized with the love tragedy of his youth friend Kiyoaki in “Spring Snow” and the high spiritual impulses of Isao in “Carrying Horses.” But life gives Honda a new secret: in Thailand he meets a young princess, whose heart’s memory is the life of Kiyoaki and Isao. Honda, who saw the rebirth of Kiyoaki in Isao, having lost Isao, again meets his beloved friend, but now in the guise of the Thai princess Yin Yian . Since childhood, Yin Yian has insisted that she is Japanese and, while in her homeland, talks about Kiyoaki and Isao. She arrives in Japan as an adult, lovely girl, and Honda accidentally notices the same signs on her - three moles that distinguished Kiyoaki and Isao. In this book, in a complex interweaving of mysticism and eroticism, the author searches for the source of feelings that bind a mature man, tired of fruitless attempts rationally explain life, and a pure, innocent girl who turns into a mysterious girl.
