Alexander Terekhov is the author of novels and stories “Memoirs of Military Service”, “Winter Day of the Beginning of a New Life”, “Babaev”, “Stone Bridge” (Big Book Award, Russian Booker shortlist), “The Germans” "(National Bestseller Award). In the novel "A Fighter Trained to Win" the main character is a rat catcher, a rat killer. The action takes place in a small town in the early nineties. The atmosphere of nervousness and impending disaster is recognizable; the narrative very quickly develops into an acute social grotesque, and in places a thriller. Rats are a symbol of either fascism (how can one not recall “The Plague” by A. Camus), or something incomprehensible that is approaching the country. The heroes of the novel painfully try to speak out, but no one listens to anyone and does not understand... The novel has been translated into English language. The book was also published under the title “Rat Slayer.”
