The author of the Chronicle of the Seraphim-Diveevo Monastery, Archimandrite Seraphim (Chichagov), later Metropolitan, an outstanding figure of the Russian Church, glorified as a holy martyr († 1937), wrote about his heavenly namesake patron: “Father Seraphim had a bright mind, memory firm, a truly Christian look, a heart accessible to all, an inflexible will, a lively and abundant gift of the word. His speech was so effective that the listener received spiritual benefit from it.
