The monograph is devoted to the image of the Jew in the Slavic book and folk tradition. Based on historical and folklore-ethnographic sources, the authors examine concepts such as “Jewish people”, “Jewish faith”, “Jewish customs”, etc., which were formed in the folklore and book literature of the Slavic peoples on the basis of a whole complex of ethnocultural stereotypes. The research is based on authentic material collected in Russian and foreign archives and during field research in regions that were part of the Pale of Settlement (western regions of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, eastern Poland).
