This publication is a fairly comprehensive encyclopedic dictionary, introducing the reader to a wide range of issues relating to the Catholic Church, its history, doctrine, worship, religious communities and much more. It should be especially noted that the Lexicon, addressed by the compilers to a predominantly Catholic audience, can become an invaluable help for a much wider range of Russian readers. This manual contains more than 700 reference articles, arranged in alphabetical order. Additionally, about 300 concepts in the dictionary are referred to other articles. The reference book does not contain articles devoted to personalities. In writing names and place names of historical significance, the manual is guided by the “Catholic Encyclopedia” of the Moscow Franciscan Publishing House. The Synodal translation of the Bible was used as a source of biblical quotations.
