The play “The Raven” (Il Corvo) is one of the ten world-famous fairy tales for the theater by Carlo Gozzi. At its premiere in Venice, this play ran for more than twenty performances, which at that time was a sign of unprecedented success. However, the further stage fate of this fairy tale is not so rich in bright productions. In 1948 in Venice, Giorgio Strehler addressed this play at the beginning of his creative career. The Raven became a landmark play for two great Italian harlequins of the 20th century, Marcello Moretti and Ferruccio Soleri. For the former, this play became his acting debut on the professional stage, while the latter made his directorial debut in this play.
