Peter Aleshkovsky (1957) calls himself “the prose writer of the post-perestroika generation” and, judging by the success of his books and magazine publications (he was twice among the “six” finalists for the Booker Prize), he is far from the last among his fellow writers. The book “Vladimir Chigrintsev” contains all the attributes of a “Gothic” novel - a werewolf, a treasure buried in an old noble estate. And at the same time, this is a work about the present day, although the literary types and plot lines make us recall the classical Russian literature of the present and past centuries.
