In this book I have brought together all the thoughts about working with dreams that have appeared in me over the past thirty-six years of practice. It represents a further development of Jungian, Gestalt, and process-oriented dream techniques that I have used or developed myself. The main idea of the book is that dreams can be understood by carefully observing how we use our attention, how we move, and what experiences we have in our bodies and in altered states of consciousness. The new methods described in this book are based on my exploring the relationships between psychology and physics. My latest book, Dreaming in Waking, is about “Dreaming,” that is, the subtle sensory experience from which all our dreams and experiences arise. In it I show that the subtle sensations of the Dream precede even fantasy. Perceiving these sensations leads to new ways of working with the body and relationship issues. In this book, I talk about how the experience of these subtle sensations leads to new theories and methods of working with dreams.
