This book is the only detailed description of the social life of the legendary Vikings. The most famous are the so-called Viking campaigns - their piracy, robberies, geographical discoveries, colonization, military service, trade in different European countries. The Vikings formed their own states and political enclaves in Britain, France, Italy, and played a big role in the history of Ancient Rus'. However, the internal, civil history of the Scandinavians in the Viking Age, their social system, life and morals in their homeland are usually described either partially or in the most general form.
