Russian American poet of the first wave of emigration Georgy Golokhvastov (1882–1963) is the author of numerous poems (primarily in the semi-sonnet genre) and the grandiose poem “The Death of Atlantis” (1938). The extremely rich mystical feeling of the antediluvian era, saturated with bright occult colors, visionarily experienced by the poet, seems to lead to the limit of creativity in depicting the ancient life of the Atlanteans. Golokhvastov's contemporaries compared his work with the best European examples of the epic genre: Dante's Divine Comedy, Tasso's Jerusalem Liberated, Milton's Paradise Lost. The philosophical and esoteric epic “The Death of Atlantis” by Georgy Golokhvastov is an outstanding poetic work in illuminating the truth of Plato’s legend and the Atlantean Tradition, coming to us from the darkness of millennia.
