David Grossman (b. 1954) is one of the most famous contemporary Israeli writers. Grossman's main work, the multifaceted novel “See. article “Love””, brought the author world fame. The novel is dedicated to the theme of the Catastrophe of European Jewry, in which the writer’s father, a native of Poland, lost all his loved ones. In the complex structure of the work, artistic methods and trends are skillfully intertwined, from pure realism and citation of authentic historical documents to metaphorical descriptions of the frankly fantastic adventures of the heroes. There is also an appeal to a parable, to the eternal plots of folk tales, and a poisonous parody. However, behind all this diversity there is a persistent attempt to comprehend and show the confrontation between a defenseless creative personality and insane triumphant Nazism.
